On May 28, 2026, the company announced it had raised an astounding $65 billion in Series H funding, valuing Anthropic at a staggering $965 billion post-money. This is no small feat and signals a clear shift in the competitive landscape of AI companies.

Why the Big Money?

The influx of capital is not merely a reflection of Anthropic’s success but an acknowledgment of its potential to transform various industries through Claude, its flagship AI model. Krishna Rao, Chief Financial Officer of Anthropic, emphasized that this funding will help them “serve the historic demand we are experiencing, stay at the research frontier, and bring Claude to more of the places where work happens.” This sentiment is echoed by Brad Gerstner of Altimeter Capital, who noted that “Claude’s latest advancements have driven large-scale adoption among the world’s most demanding organizations.”

Scaling Up

With the increased funding, Anthropic plans to significantly expand its compute capacity. They signed agreements with Amazon for up to five gigawatts of new capacity, Google and Broadcom for five gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity, and SpaceX for access to GPU capacity in Colossus 1 and Colossus 2. These relationships will enable Anthropic to scale reliably at the pace its customers need.

The company is also opening a new office in Milan, marking their sixth presence in Europe, as they continue to support Italian enterprise, research, and developers.

This move underscores Anthropic’s global ambitions and commitment to serving a diverse customer base.

As demand for Claude continues to grow, these relationships will help Anthropic scale its compute reliably at the pace its customers need. The company has significantly expanded its compute capacity in recent weeks, and this latest funding will further solidify their position as leaders in AI innovation.
