The Tradition Continues: Radio Kerry’s 12th Christmas Jumper Day
Radio Kerry, the beloved local station serving County Kerry, is set to host its 12th annual Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday, December 11, 2025. This event, which has been a community tradition for over a decade, aims to raise funds for the Society of St Vincent de Paul in Kerry.
A Decade of Generosity
Since its inception in 2014, Christmas Jumper Day has grown into a significant fundraiser. Over the past eleven years, the initiative has collected almost €200,000 to support the invaluable work of St Vincent de Paul. Last year alone, the society spent €364,000 supporting local families and individuals in need. The funds raised through Christmas Jumper Day play a crucial role in these efforts.
Participation Guidelines
The organizers encourage everyone to participate by wearing a Christmas jumper and making a donation to St Vincent de Paul Kerry. Participants can share their photos or videos on social media, email, text, and WhatsApp so that Radio Kerry can feature them on its channels. The event is open to people of all ages and from various communities, including schools, universities, businesses, and families.
How You Can Help
To register for the Christmas Jumper Day 2025, individuals are encouraged to contact Radio Kerry. Online donations can be made via Radiokerry.ie/jumperday or through Payzone. There is also a dedicated phone line (066) 712 8021 (Extension 1) where donors can make secure payments with 100% of the money going directly to St Vincent de Paul Kerry.
The funds raised will support several initiatives, including Christmas food hampers, gifts for children in need, and Christmas Day Meals on Wheels.
There are also eight stores across Tralee, Castleisland, Listowel, Killorglin, Killarney, Dingle, Kenmare, and Abbeyfeale where people can make donations or drop off items.
“Go raibh míle maith agaibh to everyone in Kerry for standing with us. Your support keeps hope alive at Christmas,” said Sinéad Donnelly, Area President of SVP Tralee and West Kerry. She expressed gratitude to all who have participated since 2014 and encouraged continued support.
Supporting the Community
The Society of St Vincent de Paul operates a donation centre in Tralee and eight stores across their Conference areas, providing a wide range of options for people to contribute. Donations can be made online or through various drop-off points, ensuring that contributions reach those who need them most.
