New Chapter for Gabby Logan at BBC
Gabby Logan, a seasoned presenter who has been with the BBC for nearly two decades, is taking her career to new heights. On November 8, 2025, she announced that she will be hosting “Have I Got News For You,” marking a significant milestone in her 20-year journey at the network.
Achieving a Long-Awaited Goal
Logan has been working with the BBC since 2007 and this new role is described as a career-long ambition. The show, “Have I Got News For You,” which has been on air since 1990, sees guests answering questions on the week’s biggest news stories in a comedic quiz panel format.
“I am thrilled to be hosting HIGNFY as it’s literally been a 20-year career goal. I have watched and admired a stream of brilliant guest presenters add something unique and personal to the role,” Logan expressed, highlighting her long-standing admiration for the show.
Family Background and Early Influences
Logan’s passion for television has roots in her childhood, thanks to her father, Terry Yorath, who was a former Welsh international footballer and manager. “When my dad was playing, it was the only way you could watch football on TV because there were very few live matches,” Logan recounted. “That music would play every Saturday night because he would come home from work – playing in a match – and watch his match on Match of the Day. As a very little girl, hearing that music meant I was staying up late on a Saturday night.”
Host Responsibilities and Future Challenges
This November 21, Logan will host her first episode of “Have I Got News For You,” with the show’s regular panelists including Ian McIvor and Paul Merton. She admitted to feeling nervous but is eager to take on this new challenge: “The biggest challenge will be remembering I’m there to do a job and not just sitting back and admiring their quick-fire wit and political observations.”
Previous Achievements
Earlier in the year, Logan achieved another career milestone by hosting her debut episode of “Match of the Day,” a role she had shared with former Premier League stars Troy Deeney and Rob Green. After hosting this show for the first time, she took to social media to share her experience: “So last week I have to admit I was a little bit too nervous to take any pictures of my first MoTD of the season.” She explained that while the nerves initially made her heart race, they eventually settled into an optimal level.
Logan’s journey with the BBC has been marked by various roles and successes. From hosting “Match of the Day” for the first time to now taking on a role in one of the network’s longest-running shows, she continues to make significant strides in her television career.
