Rush’s Return: A Long-Awaited Journey Through Time
It’s hard to believe that prog legends Rush haven’t graced our stages in the UK and Europe for a staggering 13 years. But there they are, with a tour that promises not only nostalgia but a fresh take on their classic material.
A Reunion with a Twist
The band’s upcoming Fifty Something tour is set to span from February to April 2027, hitting cities like Glasgow, Manchester, and London. These dates mark the first time Rush have played in this part of the world since their final UK leg in 2014, supporting Clockwork Angels, their nineteenth and last studio album.
But wait, it’s not just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are bringing in Anika Nilles from Jeff Beck as well as keyboard wizard Loren Gold to add some new spice. The lineup reads like a who’s-who of rock royalty, making this tour an absolute must for any fan.
The Rush Reunion: A Celebration of Music
Lee and Lifeson couldn’t contain their excitement in the press release, stating, “We can’t wait to get back to all these cities we haven’t played in so long, as well as hitting some new places we’ve yet to play.” The band is putting in serious rehearsal time with their new drumming partner Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold, learning around 40 songs for the tour. These shows promise to be a dynamic mix of old favorites and newer material.
The tour also comes at a poignant moment, as it pays tribute to Neil Peart, who passed away in 2020. The band is deeply committed to honoring his memory through this tour, hoping fans will come out not just for the music but to celebrate 50 years of Rush and give Neil the long-overdue acknowledgment he deserves.
