Nancy Guthrie, 84, vanished from her home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona, more than a week ago. Her disappearance has sparked intense searches and desperate appeals from her family.
Detention of Carlos, the Deliveryman
Police detained Carlos, a deliveryman, after a routine traffic stop. Hours later, he was released without charges. When questioned by reporters outside his home in Rio Rico, south of Tucson, Arizona, Carlos claimed he did not recognize Nancy Guthrie and said, “I don’t follow the news.”
New Video Evidence
More disturbingly, new videos have emerged showing a masked person at Nancy Guthrie’s front door on the night she disappeared. These videos, released by the FBI, show an individual armed and tampering with her home surveillance system.
The FBI Director Kash Patel stated, “As of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Family Appeal for Help
Savannah Guthrie, Nancy’s daughter and a news anchor, shared the video on Instagram. “Someone out there recognizes this person,” she pleaded. “We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”
The family has warned about their mother’s ill health, saying that she lives in constant pain and needs medication to survive. Savannah added, “She was taken, and we don’t know where. And we need your help.”
Investigation Continues
Authorities are investigating a series of ransom notes that could be from the abductors, including one with two deadlines: 5 February and 9 February. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information on the case.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that police were conducting a court-authorized search at Carlos’ home in Rio Rico. A woman who identified herself as his mother-in-law also spoke out against the investigation, saying, “They’re just invading my property.”
