The Great British Bake Off Gets a Spicey New Judge
I met Nigella Lawson and Paul Hollywood, and I must admit, their ‘chemistry’ between them was something I never saw coming. You might think this is new, but Nigella can’t help being both spicy and saucy, and she’ll do down a storm on Bake Off.
Nigella’s Sensuality Takes Over
When she was announced as the new judge, I admit to feeling a bit nervous about how she’d fit in. Not because she doesn’t have the baking experience; she has plenty of that. But more because I thought she and fellow sex symbol Paul Hollywood might be trying to occupy the same space, which might make it all a bit weird.
However, I’ve now seen them together, and those concerns have melted away.
Watching them interact was fascinating. Paul is nothing if not an alpha male, and yet he seemed strangely in awe of his new sidekick, almost reaching the giggling schoolboy stage.
Pleasure Over Precision
Nigella can’t help but make everything sound a bit racy, which is sure to spice things up in the tent this summer. She had him blushing within seconds as she informed the audience at a Channel 4 event how the pair of them had been told off for ‘talking naughtily about focaccia – and that’s not a euphemism’. Paul’s Supportive Side
The pair met up on Thursday, and they looked to be getting on like a house on fire. Nigella carried on with the sexy theme as she revealed that her Bake Off judging decisions would be led by which cake or pie she most fancied having a second slice of. “Your body lets you know,” she explained, in that way of hers.
Paul quickly got in the swing of things as he declared: “Nigella’s taste buds are unbelievable.” And when asked if she’d miss getting her hands dirty herself, he jumped in to tell the audience there was a kitchen for them to use during filming. “We’ll go in the back!” he declared.
Interference and Intrigue
Nigella told us that her Bake Off judging decisions would be led by which cake or pie she most fancied having a second slice of. “Your body lets you know,” she explained, in that way of hers. And there was more. “I have a terrible habit of nudging and interfering,” she told us all, “as Paul has already learned, just in a couple of hours.”
Really? Getting all manly, Paul said that if she overstepped the mark by telling a baker that they needed more salt (or something) he “might have to step in.” Not sure she’d stand for that though, because she made it clear she’s no pushover.
She had other ideas too: “He’s got a rhubarb plate pie that is just begging to be made now,” she insisted. And would he like cream or custard with that? “I think I’d have a jug of each,” she replied, somehow managing not to lick her lips lasciviously at the same time.
You couldn’t make this up. Who thinks the ratings might soar for the next series?
