Inside Josie Gibson’s Weight Loss Journey: From Size 20 to 8

Fabulous Celebrity weighs in on Josie Gibson’s remarkable weight loss journey, where the mother-of-one has slimmed from a size 20 to an impressive size 8. This transformation isn’t just about numbers; it’s a story of perseverance and self-discovery.

A Return to the 1970s Diet

In her new C5 show, “The 1970s Diet: Could it Work for You?” which airs this evening and Thursday at 7 pm, Josie Gibson embarks on a time-traveling experiment. She aims to explore whether the food habits of the ’70s could help resolve obesity in modern society.

According to The Mirror, she received a bespoke diet from a nutritionist that includes smaller portions of food such as boiled potatoes, liver and span, and was asked to take six short, brisk walks a week. “If I’m taking on this experiment, then I’m showing it all,” Gibson said in an interview. “It was nice to know that even though I was overweight, I was at a supreme fitness level.”

A 12-Week Fitness and Food Programme

The TV presenter is following the Do The Unthinkable Plan by MuscleFood, a 12-week fitness and food programme that includes delivered meals, workout plans, and support. She has six days where she sticks to the regime and one “cheat day” per week. “Now on that one day off, I had one cheat meal,” Josie told The Mirror. “I didn’t go crazy and drink 10 bottles of wine and binge all day on food and chocolate and all the naughty things I haven’t been having. ‘I just had my one cheat and that was it.’”

A Decade of Weight Loss Efforts

Over the years, Josie Gibson has tried a variety of weight loss techniques, from the Cambridge Diet to tummy tucks. In 2013, she shed an impressive six stone in just over a year with healthy eating and exercise. The Bristol-born star has also released workout DVDs and published her book “The Josie Gibson Diet,” detailing her secrets for dramatic weight loss.

However, her journey wouldn’t be possible today due to her career commitments and life as a mum. “I don’t want to be really, really slim because it just kills me to get there – it takes a lot of exercise,” she told Closer in 2021. “I used to cycle to the gym, do two HIIT sessions back to back and then cycle home again.

I was so fit, but how can you do that with a two-year-old? I’m a mum with a job so it’s not do-able any more.”

Despite her busy schedule and lifestyle changes, Josie continues to share her weight loss journey on social media, inspiring fans with photos from recent holidays. “I’ve done everything, I’ve taken diet tablets back in the day,” she admitted. “I have done some extreme things, but I can’t mess around with my body anymore.”

The Bristol-born star’s story is a testament to the ongoing battle against obesity and the impact of lifestyle changes on our bodies. As her C5 show unfolds, viewers will get an exclusive look into this fascinating experiment.
