Strictly Come Dancing: Lewis Cope’s Elimination Brings Emotions to the Forefront
The latest episode of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing saw actor Lewis Cope depart from the show, leaving fans and his fellow contestants with a mix of emotions. Cope, who is best known for his role in the popular TV series Emmerdale, found himself facing the bottom two alongside Amber Davies and her professional partner Nikita Kuzmin following a public vote.

Cope and Katya Jones had earned a respectable 35 points from the judging panel after their salsa performance to “Dance At The Gym” from West Side Story. However, it was not enough as the public vote saw Davies and Kuzmin advance to the semi-finals, joining other contestants including Balvinder Sopal, George Clarke, and Karen Carney. In a poignant moment, Cope expressed his gratitude towards the show and his partner Katya Jones in an interview with presenter Tess Daly. “If someone would have said that I’d have done 11 weeks on the show at the beginning, I’d have been over the moon and snap their hand off,” he shared. Cope went on to praise both his partner and the Strictly Come Dancing community for giving him a platform where people can grow, learn, and express themselves.
“You’ve literally given me absolutely everything I could wish for as a friend, as a teacher, and, yeah, I couldn’t imagine it with anybody else.”

Katya Jones reciprocated the sentiment, commending Cope on his journey and impact on the show. “I think you have created so many moments for Strictly Come Dancing that will be in the history books,” she said. “You are a kind and genuine person, what a gentleman you are, so humble and so kind.”
“This show has brought people together; it’s definitely brought my family, four generations, together every Saturday night.”

The results also saw the Strictly professionals dancing a group number to “Cell Block Tango” from Chicago and a performance by the cast of the Olivier Award-winning musical Titanic. The remaining four couples will compete in next weekend’s semi-final, which airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. For fans who missed Cope’s performances, he is set to appear on the Strictly companion show It Takes Two on Monday at 6:30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
This marks a bittersweet moment for both Cope and his supporters as they prepare to bid farewell to the actor but also celebrate his journey with the show. With Lewis Cope’s elimination, the competition continues to heat up in Strictly Come Dancing, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating who will be next to leave the dance floor.
