A Third Lottery Win for Castle Bromwich Resident
It’s first, second and third time lucky for mum-of-four Chantelle Riley from Castle Bromwich who has won her third big prize playing the People’s Postcode Lottery. Chantelle, a 47-year-old teaching assistant, is one of 18 neighbours to share £1 million in the B36 area of the city.
Each of the neighbours has won £50,000, their share of the People’s Postcode Lottery. As a bonus, Chantelle convinced her partner to sign up to the lottery meaning he has also won £50,000 too – along with 16 others in the area.
A History of Success in Castle Bromwich
For the 47-year-old, it is her third big win. Previously, Chantelle had won £14,221 and £1,078. This latest win brings her total winnings to a combined £65k.
She explained that she kept playing with her current postcode even after moving house twice, saying: “I’ve moved a few times, and I kept my tickets going at each address. I didn’t want to miss out if any of my postcodes came up.”
Chantelle’s strategy paid off as the 18 Auckland Drive residents won their share of the Millionaire Street prize when B36 0RX was announced as the winner on November 22, 2025. Each winning ticket was worth £50,000.
Future Plans and Gratitude
The dedicated mum and school worker plans to buy her rented home where she has lived for six years. She also intends to spoil her first grandchild who is due next month with some nice gifts. Chantelle said: “This house might be getting bought now. The future is looking bright.”
She added that spending the winnings will help ensure a comfortable future, especially with the upcoming arrival of her granddaughter. “I’ve got a granddaughter due on the 10th of December, so she’ll get some nice things for sure,” said Chantelle.
A Community Celebrates
Chantelle’s win is part of a series of big jackpots that have landed in Castle Bromwich over the past 11 years. It follows similar wins from previous postcodes, including £2 million in February 2014 and £3.2 million in July 2022.
Other winners in this latest draw included Sandra Grimes, a Farmfoods worker who said: “This is the dream of dreams. I didn’t think this sort of thing happens to people like me.” Sandra will use her winnings to celebrate with an anniversary dinner on December 17 and toast her late husband David, who passed away in 2020.
Conor Lavelle, a Harry Potter super-fan and Tesco worker, is set to spend his £50,000 prize on touring the Warner Brothers Studio in London. He said: “I’ve always wanted to tour the studios again, where lots of the films were shot.” Conor also plans to complete his Harry Potter-themed sleeve tattoo on his right arm.
A Unique Community Spirit
The story highlights the strong community spirit in Castle Bromwich. Chantelle’s partner winning alongside her and the shared sense of excitement among neighbours all contribute to a unique feeling of camaraderie. Sandra Grimes expressed how grateful she is for living on Auckland Drive, saying: “All my neighbours are amazing, I’ve been blessed.
They’re the reason I’m still living here.”
