The event, which took place in Glasgow, celebrated excellence in the local entertainment industry.
McGregor, who has had a prolific career spanning both film and television, received the prestigious award from his uncle Denis Lawson, another veteran actor famous for his work on screen and on stage. In his acceptance speech, McGregor expressed deep gratitude to his uncle, saying, “I can’t imagine anybody I would rather get this amazing award from than my uncle Denis.” He also credited Denis with teaching him what acting really was.
Denis Lawson praised his nephew’s versatility as an actor, stating, “Ewan is one of the most extraordinary actors of our time. His ability to bring such depth and complexity to each role has not gone unnoticed by audiences worldwide.”

The Scottish Baftas saw several other notable awards being handed out during the ceremony. James McArdle, an up-and-coming actor, won the actor film/television award for his role in the comedy drama “Four Mothers.” In his acceptance speech, McArdle thanked the incredible cast and producers of the show, adding humorously, “To be trapped in a bus with these four octogenarians was a real, real joy.”
Other recipients included Saoirse Ronan, who was honored for her acting in “The Outrun.” Her award was accepted by friend and fellow nominee Izuka Hoyle. In a touching message from Saoirse, she thanked the people of Orkney for allowing them to use their lives and homes as settings for the film.
Industry Recognizes Scottish Talent
The night also saw recognition for works that have made significant contributions to the Scottish film industry. For instance, “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth” won the award for Television Scripted, while “On Falling,” directed by Laura Carreira, picked up two awards – for feature and debut feature.
