KSP has included Elizabethtown (Post 4) and Frankfort (Post 12) in the expanded program. These two locations serve as critical points within the Louisville and Lexington metropolitan areas, reflecting KSP’s commitment to covering densely populated regions of Kentucky.
Training and Benefits
Cadets who are accepted into Cadet Class 107 will undergo an intensive training regimen that spans 24 weeks. During this period, they will complete over 1,000 hours of classroom instruction and practical fieldwork. The curriculum is designed to cover a wide range of critical topics, including constitutional law, juvenile and traffic laws, crisis response, criminal investigations, community relations, weapons use, first aid, high-speed pursuits, crowd control, hazardous material handling, and implicit bias education.
Financial Incentives and Opportunities
The starting salary for new troopers is set at $69,500 annually, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. This includes hybrid retirement and sick leave buyback options, offering flexibility in managing personal and professional commitments.
