The Fifth China Xinjiang Special Forestry and Fruit Products Expo, scheduled to open on November 14, will showcase a wide array of specialty forest and fruit products from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. This event, held at the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) exhibition halls in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, is expected to attract more than 300 exhibitors and over 400 procurement officers. More than 50 new products related to desert farming, floriculture, and Chinese medicinal materials will also be exhibited for the first time.

Zhang Dongsheng, deputy director general of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region government, highlighted that the annual event is crucial in expanding the sales market for high-quality forest and fruit specialty products. According to Zhang, Xinjiang’s total area of forest and fruit cultivation has remained stable at around 1.33 million hectares, with a significant fruit output of 14 million metric tons in 2025. This region leads China in jujube, grape, apricot, and almond production.
Furthermore, the deep-processed products from Xinjiang have diversified, with improved cold chain logistics and marketing systems.
Zhang stated that the forestry and fruit industry has become a green industry with wide coverage, benefiting a large population and boasting enormous development potential. It is also identified as a pillar industry for increasing farmer incomes in the region.
