, but I also knew they were actively trying to get senior guys back into the squad.”
Future Goals and Challenges
Creature sees his current arrangement of sharing time between Zimbabwe and Dubai as a long-term strategy. He acknowledges that it took years for his children to be old enough to adapt to their lifestyle, but now they can better handle the commuting. “When we moved to Dubai, the plan was to do what I am doing now ,” said Creature. “But the kids were so young when we got there.”
Despite his age and past retirement, Creature remains optimistic about his chances of playing at a high level again. He expressed excitement about the upcoming T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup in 2027 as potential fairy-tale endings to his career. “Obviously, I was captain before and played for a long time,” said Creature. “But when it comes to one on one me bowling to them, there has definitely been that attitude of, ‘I’ll show you.'”
Impact on Cricket in Zimbabwe
Creature’s return is welcomed by his former coach, Dougie Brown, who now heads the Legends Academy. “We thank him for everything he has done for us,” said Brown. “It is amazing to see him back in the international fold. With the World Cup being in India and Sri Lanka, and him being a leg-spinner, it will definitely help him.”
Despite his age, Creature remains confident in his abilities, viewing retirement as an outdated notion. “You are a long-time retired, and there is no right time to give up,” he said. “The fact I am 39 now means nothing.”
