Steve Cram, known for his impressive running feats, was among the participants. He said, “I really enjoyed my Rave Run Club experience in Worcester. It was a great excuse to dig out some bright kit, put the headtorch on enjoy a fantastic atmosphere.”

Social Over Competitive

Tom Adams, founder of the club, emphasized that running is secondary to socializing. “The running is almost secondary to the social side of things,” he said. “Having Steve Cram and Worcester City Runs there made it even more special.” The event’s success lies in its ability to bring people together for a fun night out.

Future Prospects

Duncan Sutcliffe, managing director of the title sponsor Sutcliffe & Co Insurance Brokers, saw this as an opportunity to engage the local community. “What a way to kick off the warm-up events for Worcester City Runs,” he said. “You could feel the excitement building for the runs in September, which we hope will be the biggest yet.” The Rave Run Club has grown rapidly since its launch in 2025, from 70 attendees to around 200 at this event.

The Worcester City Runs, established in 2014 and featuring a variety of races including the Worcester City 10K, half marathon, Young Athletes Runs, and Paula Radcliffe’s Families on Track, will return with renewed excitement following such an innovative start. The blend of athletics and nightlife promises to keep the community engaged and healthy.
