The Strictly Dancer’s Return: A Holiday Detour with Johannes Radebe

Johannes Radebe, the professional dancer and Strictly Come Dancing star, has been keeping a low profile since his recent return from an extended vacation. As the dust settles on the 23rd series of the BBC dance show, Radebe is already planning his next move in both entertainment realms.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Radebe revealed that he would be “jumping on a flight” once the 2025 Strictly Come Dancing season came to an end. This was back in December, after his partnership with actress Alex Kingston ended in week ten. While they were quickly tipped as favorites to win the Glitterball trophy, their journey took a different turn.

A Return to the Small Screen and Beyond

But Radebe’s plans don’t stop there. The star has already landed an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, airing tonight at 10:40 PM on BBC One. “Holiday detour well worth it,” Radebe wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of himself on the show. “Grateful to @thegrahamnortonshowofficial, the team, and an unforgettable couch lineup.”

And while he’s not back in the Strictly dance arena just yet, Radebe is already looking ahead. He confirmed that he will be reprising his role as drag queen Lola in the hit musical Kinky Boots for a limited run from March 17 to July 11, 2026, with previews at Curve, Leicester starting on March 3.

A Life Story in Film

But Radebe isn’t just focused on his return to the stage. He’s also set to star in a film about his life story, currently in development stage. “I just read my first script which is lovely,” he shared. “But it takes such a long time. I am hoping not to play myself, but I might make a cameo appearance.” His comments hint at the challenges of adapting real-life stories for screen.

A Future in Strictly?

When asked about his future with Strictly Come Dancing as a professional dancer, Radebe remained optimistic. “I will do that show for as long as they will have me,” he said. “It’s a magical, sparkling world. I love it.” However, the industry veteran couldn’t help but add a dose of realism: “It’s an uphill battle, you know?”

As Radebe continues to navigate his career, one thing is clear: the dance star has no shortage of opportunities and challenges ahead.
