A teacher from Eastbourne, Jeff Taylor, is shocked after winning a £94,000 Audi R8 in a BOBT (Buy Online, Test Later) competition. The timing couldn’t have been more ironic for the 63-year-old, who had just recently written off his own Audi A4 due to an accident with a deer.
Jeff, who has taught for 23 years, was browsing online for replacements when BOBT arrived to surprise him at school. Presenter Christian Williams personally delivered the gleaming Audi R8 V10 Performance Quattro in front of Jeff’s stunned colleagues and wife. “That is amazing,” Jeff said, still in disbelief. “I’m shocked, and I can’t express what I’m feeling right now.”
The car was a welcome surprise for Jeff, who had been using his wife’s car to get to work following the accident. “The timing is just amazing. I’ve been carless, borrowing my wife’s car to get to work,” he added. “Looking at cars online— and now this has happened.”

BOBT, founded in 1999, hands over the keys of a dream car each week while also offering players the option of a cash alternative and lifestyle prizes. The competition is currently running, allowing participants to enter for just £1.
The chance encounter of Jeff with his new supercar took place just moments before the school bell was due to ring for lunchtime. Christian Williams explained some of the car’s standout features to Jeff, including its V10 engine producing over 600bhp. “I’ve owned a couple of Audis and I love them, but I don’t think I’ve ever sat in anything so expensive,” Jeff said with a laugh.

Reflecting on the reaction back at school, Jeff noted that his students were thrilled. “It was absolute mayhem. The kids were cheering, and they’ve been coming up to me saying, ‘well done, sir’ and asking if I’ll be bringing it to work.” Christian Williams highlighted the timing of the win, which made the moment even more special: “Jeff’s wife told us he’d only recently written off his own car. To be able to turn up with something like this was just incredible.”
