BBC Marks Remembrance Week 2025 with Special Programming
The BBC has announced its plans to mark Remembrance Week 2025, dedicating a range of programming to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the armed forces. As part of this initiative, the corporation will provide live coverage of significant events such as the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance and the National Service of Remembrance at The Cenotaph.
Live Events and Coverage
On Saturday 8 November, viewers can tune into BBC One to watch the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance. This event will be hosted by Hannah Waddingham and feature performances from various artists including Sir Rod Stewart, Blessing Offor, Sam Ryder, Keala Settle, and The Wellermen. The festival will also include military music displays and personal stories that highlight the experiences of those lost in more recent conflicts.
The National Service of Remembrance at The Cenotaph will be covered on Sunday 9 November.
Live coverage from London will be presented by Sophie Raworth and Petroc Trelawny, with the event attended by Senior Members of the Royal Family. This service includes a two-minute silence, wreath-laying ceremony, and the historic march past of nearly 10,000 veterans organized by The Royal British Legion.
Dedicated Programming
Throughout Remembrance Week, the BBC will offer dedicated programming to commemorate those who served. On Radio 2, Paddy O’Connell will present a special live programme with tributes and musical performances. Additionally, Radio 4’s Sunday Worship service will feature a setting of Laurence Binyon’s poem “For the Fallen.”
