The Hero’s Journey: Greg James’ Epic Cycle
Greg James is no stranger to big challenges. The BBC Radio 1 DJ has already completed five triathlons in five days and Pedal To The Peaks, a grueling mountain bike challenge. Now, he’s taking on his third charity ride for Comic Relief, aiming to cycle over 1,000 kilometers in just eight days.
The Pit Stop: Yew Tree Inn
On March 16th, Greg stopped at the Yew Tree Inn in Peterstow as he made his way through Herefordshire. The pub, run by the Ross-on-Wye Cider and Perry Company, was thrilled to be a pit stop for this special visitor.
A Token of Appreciation
The Yew Tree Inn didn’t just offer Greg hospitality; they sent him on his way with a personalized bottle of their cider. “We are massive fans of Greg and his breakfast show,” said a spokesperson, adding that the pub was “absolutely over the moon to be asked to help out for such an amazing cause.”
Local Support: A Cry at the Top of Hills
Greg’s journey through Herefordshire has been met with overwhelming support from local residents. “If you want to make me cry, the best way to do that is for there to be a lovely group of people at the top of a big hill,” he said in a Radio 1 social media post. The cheers and encouragement have made his long-distance challenge even more rewarding.
Greg’s third charity ride may be an uphill battle, but it seems like the support from both his listeners and the communities he passes through is making all the difference. Here’s to hoping Greg reaches his goal of 1,000 kilometers and raises a lot of money for Comic Relief!
