Security forces in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, conducted a successful operation against terrorists in the Domail and Hilal Chowk areas of Bannu district. According to reports from the Public Relations Department of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), the operation resulted in the deaths of five terrorists.
Exchange of Fire and Hostage Situation
The CTD’s armored personnel carrier was engaged by terrorists during an intelligence-based operation. In response, the security forces opened fire, killing two terrorists on the spot. The remaining three terrorists took refuge in a nearby house, where they held two local civilians hostage. When these individuals resisted, the terrorists shot them dead.
Protracted Gunfight and Outcome
The situation escalated into an eight-hour gunfight involving CTD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams, Bannu District Police, and reinforcements from other security agencies. After a prolonged firefight, all remaining terrorists were neutralized by the security forces.
Following the operation, the bodies of five terrorists were recovered. One of them was identified as Rasool, also known by his alias Commander Ariana. Authorities are currently working to confirm the identities of the others involved in the operation.
