New Cloud Streaming Feature Launches on PlayStation Portal
The PlayStation Portal has expanded its capabilities with the introduction of Cloud Streaming, allowing users to stream their digital PS5 games directly from the cloud. This feature is available exclusively for PlayStation Plus Premium members starting today at 6pm PT / November 6 at 2am GMT.
Enhancements and Features
The update introduces several new features designed to make playing on PS Portal more immersive and convenient. Users can now enjoy 3D audio support during Remote Play and Cloud Streaming, enhancing the gaming experience when using compatible audio devices such as the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds or the Pulse Elite wireless headset.
Additionally, a passcode lock feature has been added to protect user devices by setting a passcode. This can be accessed via Settings > System > Passcode.
Streamable Games and UI Redesign
The launch of Cloud Streaming for PS5 games on the PlayStation Portal offers a wide range of streamable titles, including popular games such as Astro Bot, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fortnite, Ghost of Yōtei, Grand Theft Auto V, and Resident Evil 4. These are complemented by hundreds of compatible games from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog, like Cyberpunk 2077, God of War Ragnarök, Hogwarts Legacy, Sword of the Sea, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered.
The user interface has also been redesigned to include three new tabs: Remote Play, Cloud Streaming, and Search. The Cloud Streaming home screen allows users to instantly stream a range of compatible PS5 games without waiting for downloads. The Search tab enables quick lookups of any game that supports Cloud Streaming, with QR codes displayed if the user does not have the entitlement.
Future Enhancements
The update also includes new in-game store support during Cloud Streaming and accessibility options such as screen reader and adjustable text size. These settings apply to select screens during Cloud Streaming but can be adjusted during Remote Play through the PS5 console’s settings menu. Game invitations are also available, allowing users to join multiplayer sessions directly from the Quick menu.
PlayStation is committed to expanding the ways in which users can enjoy their PS5 library on the go.
The company encourages user feedback and enthusiasm as it continues to evolve the PlayStation Portal.
The PlayStation Portal Remote Player requires broadband internet Wi-Fi with at least 5Mbps for use, though a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended for a better play experience. An account for PlayStation is required, and Cloud Streaming is only available on adult accounts in regions where PlayStation Plus Premium is offered.
