The Imposter: A Thrilling New Drama on Channel 5
Channel 5 has unveiled a new drama series that is set to captivate audiences with its gripping storyline and breathtaking locations. “The Imposter” stars Kym Marsh, Jackie Woodburn, and Dannii Minogue in a tale of betrayal and murder that unfolds against the backdrop of Victoria, Australia.
A Family Feud Turns Deadly
“The Imposter” is a thriller that centers around Helen, a matriarch who must navigate a bitter family feud. As her three adult children—Simon, Kate, and Ian—seek to sell their family’s seaside hotel, Helen stands in opposition due to her deteriorating health. However, her resolve crumbles when she learns of an older child named Amanda, whom she had given up for adoption decades ago.
The show delves into the heart of this secret and explores how it leads to a series of betrayals that culminate in tragedy. With its complex characters and tense plot, “The Imposter” promises to be a must-watch for fans of psychological thrillers.
Filming Locations: A Blend of Beauty and Challenges
Channel 5 has taken advantage of Victoria’s picturesque scenery by using several locations as filming grounds. Kym Marsh, who is making her first trip to Australia for this project, shared her experiences with the WalesOnline. “It was my first time over there and I was a little bit nervous,” she said. “I am a 49-year-old woman, but it was the furthest I’d ever gone before alone. I didn’t really know anyone.
But they very quickly put me at ease.” She also praised the Amanda’s apartment set up in the old Neighbours studio building and St Kilda’s stunning beauty.
Other notable locations include Yellow Gum, which provided a more rural setting for clifftop scenes. Marsh recalled, “We went to another place called Yellow Gum in Victoria for a clifftop scene. That was much more rural. But I never saw one spider or snake.” Despite the lack of critters, she did miss out on seeing a Huntsman spider, which her friend had spotted.
The Cast’s Reflections
Jackie Woodburne, who plays Helen, reflected on the beauty of Victoria’s natural landscapes. “The beach in Half Moon Bay at Black Rock, which has a secret cave and red rocks is magnificent,” she said. “That looks very cinematic and eerie in the opening sequence.” She also highlighted the meticulous detail put into Helen’s house set within one of the Neighbours studio buildings. “The detail is incredible. It matches so well with the exterior of the building that we used as our hotel. All the little choices that were made about ornaments and pictures and cushions.
Bits of furniture that wouldn’t have been replaced for 20 years.” Good quality but shabby, indeed.
Dannii Minogue also shared her impressions: “No, I hadn’t filmed at these locations before. It was exciting to see how beautiful the location is, especially knowing it would look fantastic on camera.” She reminisced about her time in London and expressed excitement for British audiences to experience this exotic setting.
Set to Air Soon
“The Imposter” will make its debut on Channel 5 at 9pm on Monday, December 15th. The series is set to air for four consecutive nights, providing viewers with a thrilling viewing experience that promises to keep them hooked.
