Founding and Early Success
Riff Raff Entertainment was co-founded by Jude Law and his business partner Ben Jackson in 2017. Their journey began in a pub in Primrose Hill, London, where they first met in the year 2000.
The company quickly gained traction with projects such as Harry Wootliff’s “True Things” and Justin Kurzel’s “The Order.” In 2022, Calculus Capital invested in Riff Raff Entertainment, providing further support for their endeavors.
Strategic Partnerships and Future Plans
Riff Raff Entertainment has entered into a first-look deal with Anton for film projects and Studio TF1 for TV series. According to Ben Jackson, “It’s win-win for us.” The company aims to leverage these partnerships to expand its reach and influence in the entertainment industry.
Law and Jackson are also eyeing expansion through an office in Los Angeles. Law emphasized that nurturing other people’s ideas is key to their success, stating, “Nurturing other people’s ideas and passions is key to our long-term survival.”
Upcoming Projects and Industry Outlook
Riff Raff Entertainment has several projects on the horizon, including Sharon Horgan’s feature screenplay titled “25 Scenes,” which Law will star in. The project is currently out for a director and female co-star. Additionally, they are adapting Robert Gordon and Morgan Neville’s 2015 documentary “Best Of Enemies” into a film with Justin Kuritzkes writing the script.
Other projects include a series about two female detectives being developed with the BBC and another series written by Whit Anderson for Hulu.
Law explained that his role is to encourage and enable other people, stating, “The most important element of the job I do at the company is to encourage and enable other people.”
Looking ahead, Riff Raff Entertainment plans to continue developing diverse writer-driven projects while expanding their presence in the industry. Jackson added, “We’re not just a vehicle for Jude. In fact, we’re not one at all.
He doesn’t need one to work. He does it because he loves it.”
