Season Three Teases Toxic Romance Return

Hulu has released a tantalizing trailer for “Tell Me Lies” season three, stirring anticipation among fans of the series. Grace Van Patten’s character Lucy and Jackson White’s Stephen are set to rekindle their toxic relationship this time around, with Lucy warning that they must be nice to each other.

The show’s synopsis reveals that despite their promises, past indiscretions will hinder their intentions. Lucy finds herself entangled in a controversy she wishes to avoid.

Meanwhile, the disastrous fallout from the previous year compels her friends to confront their destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester on campus, vicious consequences loom over Lucy and those close to her.

Revenge Plans Emerge

The trailer showcases moments of drama as Lucy confronts Stephen about his intentions. Season two ended with a cliffhanger that saw Stephen send Bree (Catherine Missal) – on the day of her wedding to Evan (Branden Cook) – a recording of Evan confessing he had hooked up with Lucy in college. At one point, Stephen tells Lucy, “I want to hurt you and I don’t know how else to do it.”

Oppenheimer, the showrunner, shares that this pivotal moment was written last minute.

She explained, “In season two, I definitely knew he would record Evan saying this thing. Initially, I didn’t think he was going to play it at the end of the finale. I rewrote the ending of the finale very quickly, very last minute…

I rewrote it because initially it was more of a cliffhanger of: Is he going to tell Bree or not at the wedding? And then I decided he’s just gotta tell her; we just have to have that blow up.”

Returning Cast and Production Details

Cat Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Alicia Crowder, and Costa D’Angelo return as part of the cast. Emma Roberts co-founds Belletrist with Karah Preiss and Matt Matruski to executive produce under their banner, while Laura Lewis executive produces for Rebelle Media. Shannon Gibson, Stephanie Noonan, and Sam Schlaifer also serve as executive producers, with Tyne Rafaeli directing.

The series is adapted from Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name.

Season three premieres on January 13, 2026, marking the continuation of this enthralling drama that has captivated audiences since its debut. Fans can look forward to two episodes on Hulu and Disney+ in the U.S., with international viewers able to catch up through Disney+ as well.

As the trailer suggests, viewers are in for a rollercoaster ride of emotional turmoil and retribution, with the potential for explosive outcomes from past actions. The return of Lucy and Stephen’s complicated relationship promises to be a central focus of this new season.

Hulu’s commitment to continuing “Tell Me Lies” demonstrates its confidence in the series’ ability to engage viewers with compelling storytelling and complex characters. As fans eagerly await the premiere, they can anticipate a continuation of the drama that has defined the show so far.
