The Golden Era of Television Continues: SCAD TVfest 2026
Television lovers, prepare for a feast of glamour and glory at the SCAD TVfest, which is back for its 14th year. The event, set to take place from February 4-6 in Atlanta, promises a lineup that spans both scripted and unscripted series, ensuring something for every viewer’s taste.
Christina Routhier, senior executive director of SCAD Theaters and Festivals, explains the festival’s mission: “We are truly living in a golden era of television — one where the bar continues to rise and storytelling grows bolder and more ambitious every year.” This vision is reflected in the diverse array of shows that will be featured, from cultural touchstones like The Pitt, Abbott Elementary, and Bridgerton, to beloved returns such as Scrubs and The Comeback, along with reality television royalty including Survivor and The Great American Baking Show.
Awards Galore: Celebrating Excellence in Television
At the heart of SCAD TVfest is a series of awards that celebrate both creators and performers. For instance, Quinta Brunson, the star and creator of the ABC hit Abbott Elementary, will receive Variety’s Creative Showrunner Award. This honor marks her first time receiving such an accolade, but it is no surprise given her recent Emmy wins for comedy writing and lead actress in a comedy series.
Jeff Probst, the host and showrunner of Survivor, will be honored with the Legend of Television award.
The Luminary Award will go to Aldis Hodge, who stars in Cross. Actress Lili Reinhart will receive the Spotlight Award for her roles in shows like Riverdale, Hal & Harper, and Hustler. Lastly, Jackson White, who has made a name for himself as an actor in Tell Me Lies, will be awarded the Rising Star honor.
Scrubs, which is set to return with its 10th season 16 years after its initial run ended, will receive special recognition. The Cast Award will be accepted by stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke, as well as creator Bill Lawrence.
Impact Awards: Honoring Innovation in Television
The festival also includes the Impact Award, which will be presented to “The Pitt.” The award will be accepted by actors Taylor Dearden (Dr. Melissa “Mel” King), Amielynn Abellera (Perlah Alawi), Laëtitia Hollard (Season 2 nurse Emma Nolan), and writer Cynthia Adarkwa.
SCAD TVfest is not just a celebration of television; it’s an educational experience for students specializing in film and television. As Paula Wallace, SCAD president and founder, puts it: “Fan favorites like ‘Bridgerton’s’ Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh, ‘Survivor’s’ Jeff Probst and ‘Abbott Elementary’ mastermind Quinta Brunson take centerstage at SCAD Atlanta for top honors and masterclasses nonpareil.” Students will have the chance to learn directly from their mentors and future collaborators.
So, mark your calendars for February 4-6.
The SCAD Bees are ready to bask in the limelight alongside the industry’s brightest stars, on screen and on set, with Emmy winners, showrunners, and casting visionaries gathered at this prestigious event.
You might think this is new, but… it’s not. SCAD TVfest has been setting the standard for television festivals since its inception in 2013. And as the golden era of television continues to flourish, so too will the importance of events like this one in shaping the future of storytelling.
