The 2026 Critics Choice Awards, held on January 4, saw a delightful twist when costars Meg Stalter and Paul W. Downs took the red carpet by storm in an identical replica of the outfits worn by their Hollywood counterparts, Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. The costumes were crafted by L.A.-based designer Erica D. Schwartz, who has a knack for creating memorable red carpet moments.
Replicated Glitz and Glamour
Downs, 43, and Stalter, 35, arrived at the awards ceremony dressed in nearly identical replicas of the custom orange Chrome Hearts outfits worn by Chalamet and Jenner during a December premiere for Chalamet’s latest film, “Marty Supreme.” The bright orange leather suits paired with matching accessories were designed to capture the essence of their Hollywood counterparts. Downs wore an orange silk shirt and boots, while carrying a black leather ping-pong paddle case draped over his shoulder. Meanwhile, Stalter channeled Jenner in a floor-length orange gown featuring triangular cutouts below her bust and across her waist. The dress was adorned with a cross embellishment, which she complemented with a cross necklace and orange pumps.
Second Red Carpet Appearance Together
This was the second red carpet appearance for Chalamet and Jenner together since they began dating in the spring of 2023. Their first joint appearance came at the 70th David Di Donatello Awards in Rome, where Chalamet received the David for Cinematic Excellence honor. At that event, Chalamet wore a sleek velvet suit decorated with a boutonniere, while Jenner opted for a curve-hugging dress from the Schiaparelli Fall/Winter 2025 collection.
Her ensemble included a velvet clutch with gold embroidery and statement Schiaparelli earrings, one of which featured a gold brass finger topped with a pearl and rhinestone, and the other a sculpted hand with a crystal-set nail and pearl pendant. Jenner’s hair was styled in a slicked-back bun.
Stalter’s Red Carpet History
Meg Stalter is no stranger to making bold statements on the red carpet. At the 2025 Emmys, she subverted the event’s formal dress code by opting for straight-leg blue jeans and a white T-shirt, adding black flats, a belt, and sunglasses. In an interview with Variety, she expressed her belief that people should bring back jeans to the red carpet: “I think people need to bring back jeans on the red carpet.
They were in the ’90s… there’s no rules. You’re allowed to do what you want.” Her outfit also featured a black handbag with the label reading, “cease fire!” This was clearly a subtle nod to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
