Celebrity Traitors: Alan Carr’s Former Friend Speaks Out
BBC One’s “Celebrity Traitors” has continued to captivate audiences with its mix of humor and drama. Recently, the show’s star, 49-year-old Alan Carr, received unexpected support from his former TV co-star, Justin Lee Collins. This development comes as a surprise, considering their tumultuous history.
Alan Carr’s Performance on “Celebrity Traitors”
In an interview with X (formerly known as Twitter), 51-year-old Justin Lee Collins expressed his admiration for Alan Carr’s performance on the show. He wrote, “It is the best show on television. Each episode is absolute genius from start to finish. And Alan Carr is killing it!” This statement highlights the contrast between their current professional relationship and their past friendship.
Background of Alan and Justin
Their journey together began in 2006 when they were announced as co-hosts for Channel 4’s “Flipside.” The show ran for three years, during which both men interviewed numerous A-list stars. Speaking about their time on the program, Justin told Female First in 2009, “Oh it’s joy. I get to work with one of my best friends; I get to sit on a sofa with one of my best friends, the most naturally funny man that I have ever met, and it’s a complete joy.” Their friendship seemed unbreakable at the time.
The Fallout
However, their relationship took a turn for the worse in 2012 when Justin was found guilty of harassing his ex-partner, Anna Larke. He was convicted of harassment causing fear of violence and faced a campaign of abuse, including throwing DVDs at her. Despite this public scandal, Alan did not publicly speak out against his former friend, maintaining that he still considered him a good friend who had “sorted himself out.”
By 2016, however, Alan’s opinion on Justin had changed significantly. In an interview with The Guardian, he confirmed they were no longer friends and emphasized that it was not about dropping people like hot bricks but moving on in life.
Current Status
Alan Carr remains one of two remaining Traitors on the show following Jonathan Ross’s banishment. He is set to continue his run with fellow Traitor, Cat Burns. Despite their current separation, Justin has shown support for both Alan and the show itself through his social media posts.
As “Celebrity Traitors” continues its Thursday evening slot at 9 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, fans are left wondering how long this professional partnership will continue in light of their complex personal history. The show’s producers have yet to comment on the situation between Alan and Justin.
