New Routes and Operators at East Midlands Airport in 2026
In a move that promises to diversify travel options for passengers, East Midlands Airport is set to welcome several new routes and operators starting from Easter 2026. This strategic expansion reflects the airport’s ongoing commitment to expanding its customer base and offering greater choice.
Introduction of SunExpress
SunExpress, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, is making its debut at East Midlands Airport with flights to Antalya in Türkiye. Operating up to three times a week through October 2026, these new routes will attract holidaymakers looking for sun and fun this summer.
Jet2’s New Destinations
In a similar vein, Jet2 has added five exciting new destinations for the summer of 2026. The Greek islands of Preveza, Thessaloniki, and Chania will be among the highlights, along with Pula in Croatia and Agadir in Morocco. Additionally, extra flights to Jersey will offer customers more convenient access to this Channel Island.
TUI’s Sharm El Sheikh Reintroduction
A significant addition to the summer 2026 roster is TUI’s reintroduction of Sharm El Sheikh as a twice-weekly operation. This destination, which was last operated by TUI three years ago, has been brought back following strong customer demand. The brand-new destination Boa Vista in Cape Verde and Burgas on Bulgaria’s coastline will also be available again this year.
Terminal Upgrades at East Midlands Airport
As part of the airport’s ongoing improvements, significant changes are underway to enhance the overall passenger experience. These include a new-look security hall with next-generation scanners, upgraded restaurants and seating areas, better Wi-Fi access, water refill stations, and electronic customer service kiosks.
New Lounges and Services
The airport is also set to introduce more shops, enhanced immigration facilities, new toilets, a quiet room, sensory pods, and a Little Flyers area for young travelers. These developments are part of the airport’s commitment to making travel as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Customer Testimonial
Mike Grimes, East Midlands Airport’s Customer Services and Planning Director, expressed his excitement about these new additions. “We are so looking forward to summer 2026 – it’s going to be great to welcome SunExpress for the first time and to offer new destinations to our customers,” he said. “We’re always looking at ways to improve the choice and experience for customers, and these new routes, along with ongoing improvements in the terminal, mean that summer 2026 is shaping up to be a great one for everyone who chooses East Midlands for an effortless start to their holidays.”
