Love Stories at Sea: The P&O Cruises Experience
Hannah and Mitchell Still’s love story began like many others do—on a holiday. But their journey to the altar was anything but ordinary, taking place on the vast expanse of the ocean itself.
Their first encounter happened on board P&O Cruises’ Ventura cruise ship in 2019. Hannah, then 19 and enjoying her family’s annual holiday with P&O Cruises since childhood, met Mitchell’s friends at Brodie’s Bar. The night was set for a prank to wake up Mitchell from his sleep; the outcome was much more profound.
“I remember saying to him, ‘hello, it’s the girl of your dreams’ and somehow, I was right,” Hannah recounts with a chuckle. “That night, we spent hours talking, and it felt like no time at all.”
The Long Haul: From First Kiss to Fiancé
Over subsequent cruises, Hannah and Mitchell grew closer, navigating the challenges of long-distance relationships with the help of the ship’s atmosphere. “There’s something amazing about being on a ship – you’re away from real life, work doesn’t exist, and you’re your best self,” Hannah says.
The couple’s first kiss took place awkwardly under their dad’s watchful eye in Havana, Ventura’s Cuban-themed nightclub. But it was just the beginning of what would be an enduring romance, spanning years and several cruises.
From Romance to Commitment: A Wedding Aboard Azura
In 2023, Mitchell proposed during a Norwegian fjords cruise on Britannia. The couple then got married aboard Azura in the Planet Bar while sailing through the Greek islands in May 2025.
“Walking around the ship afterwards with everyone clapping was surreal – I felt like a film star,” Hannah reminisces. “Even the entertainment hosts remembered us from our very first cruise years earlier and gave us a wedding gift.”
Cruise Weddings: The New Normal?
Cruise weddings have become increasingly popular, with several major brands catering to this trend. P&O Cruises reported a 12% surge in bookings for such ceremonies last year.
Wedding packages typically range from £1,000 to £3,000 on top of the cruise fare and include elements like wedding cakes, music, food, drinks, and spa treatments. This makes it an attractive option compared to traditional weddings, despite the need to convince guests to attend a ship instead.
To know that P&O Cruises played such a huge role in their love story – and that they’re now continuing it as a family – feels incredibly special,” Hannah adds excitedly about their plans for future cruises with their child, Mae.
