New AI Health Companion Aims to Make Proactive Health More Accessible

In a bid to revolutionize how people approach their health, New York-based startup Bevel has secured $10 million in Series A funding from General Catalyst. The investment follows the company’s impressive growth trajectory over the past year and underscores its commitment to making proactive health management more accessible.

Bevel’s Vision for Health

Co-founder and CEO Grey Nguyen explains, “We think of health as a continuous journey, not a phase.” This philosophy is central to Bevel’s mission. The company’s AI health companion unifies data from wearables and daily habits—covering sleep, fitness, and nutrition—into personalized insights that help users make small changes leading to long-term benefits.

Accessibility and Innovation

Unlike many competitors in the health tech space, Bevel focuses on creating a purely software-based solution. “A $500 ring or band is out of reach for a lot of people,” says Aditya Agarwal, co-founder and board member. “People already generate so much valuable health data from their primary wearables and other everyday sources.” This approach aims to make Bevel’s services more accessible across a broader user base.

Financials and User Metrics

Bevel users pay $6 monthly or $50 annually, making the service affordable. The company boasts significant growth metrics: it has seen its user base expand over eightfold in just one year, reaching 100,000 daily active users. Furthermore, Bevel reports that its average user opens the app eight times per day and retention remains above 80% at 90 days—rare achievements for a category often plagued by churn.

Technical Details

The AI health companion integrates with Apple Watch through Apple Health and directly syncs with continuous glucose monitors like Dexcom and Libre. Garmin integration is also in development, expanding the range of compatible wearables. All this data feeds into Bevel Intelligence, which analyzes user behavior to provide tailored recommendations.

Founding Story

The idea for Bevel emerged from personal experiences. Grey Nguyen developed chronic back pain due to neglecting his health while working at a demanding startup. He realized that a holistic approach was needed. Similarly, Aditya Agarwal’s experience with burnout highlighted the need for tools that integrate seamlessly into daily life.

Future Plans

With this new funding, Bevel plans to expand its services and partnerships, making proactive health more accessible to a wider audience. “Bevel’s mission to democratize health through intelligence and design deeply resonates with us,” says Neeraj Arora from General Catalyst. The company is well-positioned to continue growing in the rapidly evolving health tech market.
